About Kefircoffee®

Kefircoffee® is an Irish food-tech coffee innovation company that has created a new category called Enhanced Polyphenol Coffee™. Using a proprietary clean-label process applied before roasting, Kefircoffee® increases naturally occurring polyphenols, chlorogenic acids and antioxidant potential while keeping the product 100% coffee.

No. Despite the name, Kefircoffee® is not coffee with kefir added to the final beverage. It contains no added kefir, probiotics, preservatives, flavourings or artificial ingredients.

The innovation occurs before roasting through a proprietary clean-label process applied to green coffee beans. The final product remains 100% coffee.

Coffee naturally contains valuable bioactive compounds, including polyphenols, chlorogenic acids and antioxidants. However, conventional roasting can significantly reduce many of these compounds.

Kefircoffee® is designed to enhance and preserve more of the bean's natural bioactive potential before roasting. Independent testing by Teagasc demonstrated elevated levels in eight of the nine key coffee bioactive compounds measured, while the ninth remained unchanged.

Enhanced Polyphenol Coffee™ is the category created by Kefircoffee®.

It refers to coffee whose naturally occurring polyphenols and antioxidant compounds have been increased through a proprietary clean-label process before roasting, without fortification or added ingredients.

Science & Ingredients

Antioxidants are compounds that help protect cells from oxidative stress. Coffee is naturally rich in antioxidants, with polyphenols and chlorogenic acids being among the most important contributors.

Polyphenols are naturally occurring plant compounds found in coffee, tea, berries, cocoa and many fruits and vegetables. They contribute significantly to coffee's antioxidant activity and natural bioactive profile.

Chlorogenic Acids (CGAs) are the primary polyphenols naturally found in coffee beans. They contribute substantially to coffee's antioxidant potential and influence flavour, aroma and acidity. They are naturally abundant in green coffee beans but can be reduced during conventional roasting.

No. The caffeine content remains comparable to conventional coffee. Kefircoffee® is designed to enhance naturally occurring polyphenols, chlorogenic acids and antioxidant potential rather than increase caffeine levels.

Yes. Kefircoffee® contains no artificial ingredients, preservatives, flavour enhancers or external fortification. The differentiation comes entirely from the proprietary pre-roast enhancement process.

Kefircoffee® is not a fermented beverage and is not a kefir drink.

The process uses a proprietary clean-label enzymatic biotransformation step applied to green coffee beans before roasting. The final product remains coffee.

No. Kefircoffee® is brewed exactly like conventional coffee using espresso machines, filter brewers, French press, Aeropress, bean-to-cup systems and other standard coffee equipment.

Yes. Kefircoffee® sits within the growing functional beverage category because it offers a naturally enhanced coffee composition while remaining 100% coffee.

Testing & Validation

Yes. Kefircoffee® has undergone independent analytical testing by Teagasc, Ireland's agriculture and food development authority, a credible third-party validator recognised by Enterprise Ireland and international food-innovation assessors.

The testing evaluated nine key naturally occurring coffee bioactive compounds and compared Kefircoffee to conventional coffee controls. Results demonstrated that eight of the nine compounds tested were elevated in Kefircoffee®, while the ninth remained unchanged. No external fortification or additives were required to achieve these compositional changes; the enhancement comes entirely from the proprietary pre-roast process applied to green coffee beans.

Detailed analytical results and full testing methodology are available to licensing partners, distributors, and investors under confidentiality agreements, supporting due diligence and partnership evaluation.
